OUTDOOR SPACES

There is much to explore on our 20-acre property, which includes gardens, orchards, fields, wetlands, and oak savanna. We are outside pretty much every day, except in cases of extreme weather. We experience so many different areas of science firsthand, often interwoven: botany, zoology, ecology, meteorology, forestry, geology, entomology, physics, earth science, astronomy, paleontology, chemistry, and more.
We walk together and observe changes over time. We pause often to examine the bee hives, check on the fruit trees, catch toads, smell flowers, make a note or sketch, etc. We climb up to the treehouse and view the landscape from above, sled down hills, and swing high into the air. We build and create, grow and cultivate, in the natural world around us and within our deepest selves.
